You do not have to be an expert to make your own. What you will need is some fabric, thread and needle, measuring tape, good pair of sharp fabric scissors and a velcro that can easily be sewn. First and foremost, you do not have to worry about making a pattern. You don't necessarily need one. What you have to do is to think as to how big your pillow case should be. You might also want to take in consideration as to what shape you want.

Say for example you want a square-shaped pillow case; you need to measure your square shaped pillow. After measuring your pillow, get your fabric and lay it flat. Be sure to fold the fabric in half. Folding the fabric in half will help you get the right sides of the fabric to face each other. Get your marker and tape measure. Mark the square on your fabric according to the dimensions of your pillow. Give an inch or two adjustments on all sides.
Once you've marked your fabric, cut the square shape from your fabric with the use of your sharp pair of fabric scissors. Remember that you should have two similar square shapes of fabric. Get the two fabrics pinned up together and the right sides should face each other and the insides of the fabric should be able to face out. Sew three sides of the fabric. For the last side, sew in the velcro to your pillow case. After attaching the velcro, pull the fabric inside out and put your pillow in. There you have it, making baby pillow cases is that easy.
