A Baby Bassinet's Multiple Uses

If you are tossing around the idea of purchasing a baby bassinet or not, rest assured that it can be used longer than your baby's first few months of life. Once a bassinet has served its purpose, it can have many other uses.

I am certainly not saying to place a 7-month-old infant into a baby bassinet. That would be an accident waiting to happen because all bassinets include a weight limit and milestone limit. For instance, a baby that can roll over cannot be in a bassinet since its structure is not built to support a mobile infant.

Instead, use your baby bassinet as a lovely storage zone for stuffed toys, dolls and other playthings. It seems that as our children grow, they accumulate more and more toys. Stashing them into a bassinet can help keep their toy collection from taking over the entire house.

A bassinet also may become a toy for your child. My daughter likes to put her baby dolls into her own crib. Yes, your child's bassinet can become a dolly or teddy bear's bed.

A baby bassinet even can serve as accent furniture. There are such gorgeous, handmade bassinets in stores and on the Internet which I believe would go magnificently with any living room décor.

Lastly, you can re-gift your baby's bassinet. But if you or the recipient does not like that idea, perhaps you can turn the cradle into a gift basket and place presents inside. You could have bedtime theme and include books, stuffed toys and blankets. That way, the recipient does can use it however she'd like, perhaps repurposing it into a toy box, doll bassinet or even accent furniture to individualize it for her little bundle of joy.
